Frequently asked questions

What happens in a hypnotherapy session?

A gentle, relaxing, voice induction will be used, followed by further methods to deepen your level of relaxation/trance. Suggestions are then given to the sub conscious mind. The process is pleasant and relaxing, with the state of relaxation enabling your sub conscious mind to accept the suggestions to implement your desired changes. You will most likely be aware of everything going on around you. You will not get stuck in trance.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Most people can be hypnotised, though there are a few exceptions. For examples, some drug user, addicts, those with more serious mental health problems, people suffering with dementia, and very young children. No one can be hypnotised against their will, and therefore a willingness to relax and go with the process is usually necessary. Although some of the most sceptical clients have had the most amazing and immediate results.

Will it be like a hypnotist show?

Absolutely not! those shows are for entertainment purposes, unlike hypnotherapy where the process is based solely on helping the client improve their quality of life. You wont ever be asked to do anything against your will and will be fully aware of what is happening. If at anytime you were to feel uncomfortable, or unsettled, you will simply be able to open your eyes and break the relaxation and trance.

How does hypnosis actually work?

Hypnosis gently allows a gateway in to the sub conscious mind. By relaxing the logical/conscious mind, the therapist can influence our life experiences by giving positive suggestions to the sub conscious mind, allowing improvement in our everyday lives by eradicating irrational fears and phobias, unwanted habits and behaviours etc.

How does coaching work ?

Coaching is very useful for those ‘stuck in a rut’, like a guide to help the client find the right direction, enabling them to reach their goals. Life coaching can be said to be like an extension of the support and advice you might otherwise get from friends and family, but with a more objective, solution focused, non biased, approach. It helps people see life from different perspectives, giving them the confidence to move forward. Helping them organise their priorities, and set steps towards achieving the desired change.

Can coaching be done online?

Yes! coaching can be carried in various ways to best suit the client. Whilst some prefer face to face meetings, others find it more convenient and useful to have sessions remotely via the internet, or over the phone.

What happens in stress and anger management sessions?

The therapist will discuss current patterns of behaviour and triggers, and help the client develop some alternative ideas and strategies to cope with life’s stresses and strains.
